According to the list of 30 best islands in the world outside the US published by Condé Nast Traveler following the 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards survey, Mauritius ranks second in the Top 5 of the Best islands in the Rest of the World category. The island ranks after Maldives, and before Galapagos, Seychelles and Zanzibar. According to the famous travel magazine, even if the SSR International airport seems a mouthful, it is the link for flights to other cities in Africa, as well as to major cities in Europe, Asia, and Australia. The other categories published by Condé Nast are: North America, Europe, Carribean and the Atlantic, Australia and the South Pacific, and Asia.
