16 students from the Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA) are currently in Mauritius alongside the exchange programme between the Constance Hospitality Training Centre (CHTC) and the STA to give them the opportunity to acquire skills in the hospitality sector. These students, of which 12 are registered in the Advanced Diploma in Hotel Management (ADHM) programme and four who are laureates in Spa, Culinary Production, Food and Beverage and Guest Relations sectors, are on the island for a duration of six months. During their internship, the students will be attending a workshop each month at the CHTC. The training centre also hosted three members of the presidential staff from Seychelles for a three-month’ internship in the Housekeeping, Pastry and Food Production departments of Constance Belle Mare Plage.
The Training Centre Manager Vishal Roopun explains that “each year, the workshops organised by the CHTC are adapted to the needs of the trainees. The CHTC offers a training in soft skills in addition to their internship, improving the students’ interpersonal skills.” Since its creation in 1998, the Constance Hotel Training Centre has trained some 10 000 students in hospitality from different countries of the region, especially in islands where the hotel group operates.
