The fourth Governor’s Ball organised by the Marriott hotels in Mauritius, The St. Regis Mauritius Resort, Westin Turtle Bay Resort & Spa, Mauritius, and Le Méridien Ile Maurice, has once more been a success with a total amount of Rs. 1.4 million raised. Unlike the previous years during which the amounts collected were meant for a UNICEF fund, this year the beneficiary is a local NGO, SOS Children’s Village Mauritius that supports abandoned children and children in distress, while trying to provide a good family environment to them in the villages.
This year again, the event was hosted at the Chamarel Ballroom of Le Méridien on the 27th October, with the Masquerade theme inspired from the Venetian carnival and the 15th century Royal decadent nights. The 240 guests present have contributed to the fund through the purchase of the ticket and the auction, and savoured the gourmet four-course menu prepared by the chefs of the group during the evening. After dinner, all were invited on the dance floor, and the Governor’s Ball ended with the usual poker game.
