Mauritius once again showed its talents during the 5th edition of the South Indian Culinary Association (SICA) that took place from the 20th to the 23rd August, in Chennai, India. The Mauritian team, composed of Ajay Kurnauth, Westley Chowrimootoo, Kailash Jeebun, Nishtay Raujee and Kishore Andhin, won the gold medal in the Buffet category.
Mauritius also won a silver medal in the Dessert category, and a bronze one in the 3-course menu, as well as a special mention from the jury in the Starter category. The team was headed by Virjanand Kallooa, the Executive Chef of Ambre Hotel, assisted by Roshan Gopaul. The President of the Mauritian Chef’s Association (MCA) Mooroogun Coopen for his part, formed part of the jury composed of WACS certified international chefs (World Association of Chefs).
