The first outdoor cinema was launched at Mont Choisy Le Mall in Grand-Bay on Friday 7th September. The guests present at the opening of the “Ciné sous les étoiles” had the opportunity to watch the blockbuster Avatar. Popular films from Hollywood and Bollywood will be broadcast twice a month on a 10-metre giant screen with a high definition cinema projector and a powerful sound system.
The cinema was set up on the side of the commercial centre, with armchairs for Deluxe guests, deck chairs for VIP ticket holders, a playing ground for children, a bar corner will alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, as well as an outlet for snacks, popcorn and candy floss. The place can accommodate 250 seated guests and up to 1000 persons.
The first public broadcast will be on the 22nd September, followed by a Bollywood action movie “Sholay” on the 29th September. Other blockbusters such as Titanic and Lion King, and even the recently released Black Panther are scheduled for October and November.
The project has been set up through the association of Cinema.mu, Otayo, Deals.mu and Mont Choisy Le Mall. The site can also be used for events, festivals, conferences, concerts and private cinema sessions.
