The traditional tourism mass took place on Thursday 4th October at Sainte-Croix Church. The theme for this year was “technology at the heart of tourism”. Several players form the tourism sector were present at this annual ceremony that was broadcast live on MBC TV and on the Facebook page of the Tourism Diocesan Committee.
In his homily, Father Laurent Rivet mentioned the place taken by technology today, highlighting the fact that “man is not made for technology, it is technology that is made for man”. He also talked about the importance of a respectful development knowing we have today tourists who are more demanding in terms of sustainability. The President of the Tourism Diocesan Committee Marie Malié, has for her part, announced the coming projects, namely the set-up several satellites of the commission throughout the island in 2019. The minister of Tourism Anil Gayan, and the Director of the MTPA Arvind Bundhun, were among the persons attending the event. The choir was, this year again, composed of the students from the Hotel School of Mauritius.
