Vishal Ittoo, who did not take part in the previous edition for medical reasons, won the 50km Mauritius Union race of the CIEL Ferney Trail in 05:38:55 this year, followed by Pascal Blanc (05:39:55) from Reunion Island, and Jean Will Smith (05:41:55) from Rodrigues. On the ladies’ side, Ombeline Blanc (07:11:40) from Reunion Island ranked first, followed by the Marie Manière (08:03:55) from Mauritius.
On the 20Km Nando’s, the French Kevin Lallemand arrived first (01:21:11) in front of the Mauritian Jonathan Cotte (01:39:59), while on the ladies’ side the Mauritian Sabrina Rabot led in 02:21:36, followed by another Mauritian Guianella Marie-Louise (02:22:50). Two Mauritians won the 10Km Bank One: Christiane Louis in 00:55:50 on the ladies’ side, and Davind Custnea in 00:40:06 on the men’s side. Same for the 4 Km Sun Resorts with Pascale Azor (00:24:06) and Sonoo Hurry (00:18:07) at the first place.
Besides the good performances, this 11th edition of the CIEL Ferney Trail reiterated its popular dimension with a record participation of 3700 runners. It was also the occasion to give a special place to some 40 young persons with mental disabilities who took part in the trail, as well as to the young Krishi Luchoomun, with physical handicap and who has been carried by some 20 volunteers all along the circuit. The total amount of the registration fees has been distributed equally to La Vallée de Ferney Conservation Trust Fund and Inclusion Mauritius.
