The Governor’s Ball of Marriott International Mauritius – The St. Regis Mauritius, Westin Turtle Bay Resort & Spa and Le Méridien Ile Maurice – will be taking place on the 27th October. This year, the event will be organised to the benefit of SOS Children's Villages Mauritius, a local NGO, for the first time. Until now, all the funds collected during the ball were donated for the UNICEF WASH project to provide clean drinking water and proper sanitation facilities to underprivileged families of Africa and the Middle-East. In 2017, all the funds collected during the Governor’s Ball, more than Rs. 1.3 million (Over $40 000) through tickets, lottery and auction, were donated to UNICEF.
The Governor’s Ball will take place this year at the Chamarel Ballroom of Méridien Ile Maurice and will be inspired by the Venetian carnival and the decadent ballrooms of the 15th century royalty. The evening will start with a cocktail party, followed by a 4-course dinner and the auction, and as from 10.30 pm, time for dancing and a poker game. The ticket for the dinner is at Rs 2 900 per person, or Rs. 29000 for a table of 10. This ticket gives an entry to the Grand Prize raffle of the ball.
SOS Children’s Villages Mauritius is a NGO that supports and works towards the wellbeing of abandoned children or children in distress, while giving them a family environment in the villages.
