After an 11-hour flight with Air Mauritius, the 30 candidates to Miss France 2019 arrived at Dinarobin Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa on Wednesday 21st November. They will be on the island for a week with a busy schedule awaiting them: official photo sessions, courses, outings…, as explained by Sylvie Tellier, Director of Miss France Pageant, during a press conference at the resort in Le Morne yesterday. The Director of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA), Arvind Bundhun, who was also at the conference, said that the presence of Miss France will put Mauritius in the limelight.
The French press is also part of the tour, namely with TF1, Paris Match, Gala, Le Parisien, among others. The 30 young women will have the opportunity to discover the island through some highlights such as the horse races, the zip lining, and meeting local craftsmen to understand the Mauritian life and culture. “We want to show the audience that Mauritius is much more than a seaside resort, we also want to show the island from the inside and promote green tourism”, said Sylvie Tellier. The latter is fond of Mauritius and particularly of the Dinarobin as she stayed there alongside the contest in 2002, the year she was designated Miss France. “We have chosen Mauritius as we want our audience to dream and the destination is perfect for that.”
